A Puppy with Big Sad Eyes
A puppy with big, sad eyes
Stares at me with such surprise
His little body trembling with fear
As if he knows, I am near
His fur is soft, his eyes are bright
But sadness fills them, like a night
His little tail, it does not wag
As if the world, it has a snag
I want to reach out and hold him tight
To let him know, everything is alright
But he just sits there, staring back
As if he's stuck, in a world of lack
So I sit with him, for a little while
And I whisper words, that bring a smile
I tell him how much I care
And how with me, he'll always have a share
And slowly, but surely, he starts to see
That love and kindness, are meant to be
His little tail, it starts to wag
And suddenly, the world's not such a drag
For in this little pup with big, sad eyes
I see a soul that wants to rise
To live a life, full of joy and grace
And in my heart, he's found his rightful place.
